SILENT AUCTION

THE MARKET PLACE AND COMMUNITY ART PROJECT

Outside Lands will offer some of the best shopping west of the Sierra Nevada. We are bringing an assortment of quality craftsmen, artisans, vendors, and official festival and artist merchandise. Our friends at Relix Magazine, Rolling Stone Magazine and Kaenon will round out our stellar selection of goods.

Also, our friends at Bungaloo are onsite this year to host Outside Lands' first ever Community Art Project. Protecting Bay Area birds, other wildlife, and their natural habitats is very important and Bungaloo is here to help spread the word. Throughout the weekend fans will help to create an awesome avian art installation! Visit them in the back of the Polo Field to express your creative side and at the same time learn about colorizing your space. A $1 donation will be made for each participant and all proceeds will go to benefit the Golden Gate Audubon Society.

BAUER'S SHUTTLE PASSES - GETTING TO THE FESTIVAL

With extremely limited parking inside the Park and in the surrounding neighborhoods, we strongly encourage you to take alternate means of transportation. The Bauer's Shuttle Pass guarantees roundtrip transportation from any of six locations in San Francisco and Daly City to/from Golden Gate Park and the entrance of Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival. Add on the shuttle pass to your ticketing order during checkout or purchase them separately. Choose one of four lines:

Also note there is no overnight parking allowed inside of Golden Gate Park, and camping in the city of San Francisco is prohibited (San Francisco Park Code, Article 3, Section 3.12). Camping, glass containers, alcohol and drugs are prohibited at Ocean Beach.

OUTSIDER ART

Thanks to our hand picked team of brilliant artists, Outside Lands will offer some inspiring visuals to go along with the music. Chris Johanson, Jeff Canham, Matt Leines and Rich Jacobs have created artwork for scrims to dress up the stages, and Clare Rojas contributed pieces for a wall of art in Lindley Meadow. Also look for our own garden of wood pieces featuring space monkeys by Dalek!

TAKING WOODSTOCK SCREENING PRESENTED BY GLOBAL INHERITANCE

Taking Woodstock, the newest film from Focus Features and director Ang Lee, tells the story behind the music festival that started it all. Outside Lands Festival ticket holders will have an opportunity to see an exclusive sneak peek of Taking Woodstock on August 26th in San Francisco. RSVP to woodstock@globalinheritance.org to hold your spot. Once you receive confirmation, bring your Outside Lands tickets plus your ID, present them at the Global Inheritance table at the theater beginning at 5pm and receive two screening passes. First come, first serve so show up early! The film isn't in theatres till Friday August 29th so be sure to see it first thanks to Outside Lands Festival and Global Inheritance!

LILA DOWNS

We are sad to announce that Lila Downs suffered an acute appendicitis this week and will be unable to perform this weekend.  She is doing well and we wish her a speedy recovery.  Nortec Collective: Bostich + Fussible from Tijuana, Mexico are stepping up to take her place. ECO LANDS POWERED BY YOU

Eco Lands, an interactive conservation happening in Speedway Meadow, is back and greener than ever. Following last year's efforts we are beefing up the solar stage, implementing more alternative energy, increasing the size of the farmer's market, working toward a higher waste diversion rate and achieving carbon neutrality through PG&E's ClimateSmart program. Also in Eco Lands you can refill your water bottle, chat with our non-profit partners, charge your cell phone off of solar power, trade cups or bottles at the recycling store, bid on rock posters at the silent auction or attend environmental talks. And look out for Whole Foods serving up natural treats, our friends at Lifeway sampling their probiotic kefirs, and Toyota's 3rd Generation Hybrid at the Prius Spot.

To keep you engaged with our environmental initiatives, the OSL Passport program will be in full effect giving you the chance to win watching Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band or Tenacious D from the soundboard. Pick up your passport at the Eco Lands Info Booth and get stamps for biking or taking MUNI to the festival, recycling your old cell phone, registering to vote, volunteering with PG&E and more. REFILLABLE WATER PROGRAM

New this year to Outside Lands is our Refillable Water Program, which will help to cut down our plastic bottle consumption. We are offering two different refillable spring water options for your convenience: Either purchase an OSL branded stainless steel water bottle at the water station or the merchandise tent and receive free refills of spring water all weekend, or bring your own water bottle from home and purchase refills. Please look for the water stations on the map in Polo Field, Lindley Meadow and Eco Lands. Every refill is one less plastic bottle. Let's make a difference!

VOLUNTEER WITH PG&E AT OUTSIDE LANDS

There's a reason it's called manpower. Volunteering... the most renewable kind of energy there is. PG&E and its employees have given almost 22,000 hours of their own time back to California communities, and so can you. Visit us at the PG&E tent in Eco Lands to learn how you can build a solar home with Habitat for Humanity, restore the environment with California State Parks Foundation, help preserve San Francisco's treasured parks with the Neighborhood Parks Council, and more. Not sure where to get started? California Volunteers will be on site and can help connect you to opportunities in your community and across the state. While you are in Eco Lands doing your part for mankind, see what solar can do for the planet. PG&E will be powering the area on clean solar power, including solar cell phone charging stations. The music is no exception, with the Panhandle Stage running on 100% clean solar energy due to the help of PG&E and partners.

TRASHED RECYCLING STORE HOSTED BY ODWALLA

Are you into dumpster diving? We have just the thing for you...the TRASHed Recycling Store hosted by Odwalla located in Eco Lands in Speedway Meadow. Help us keep the festival site clean by picking up compostable cups, plastic bottles or empty Odwalla and exchanging them at the recycling store for festival merchandise, concert tickets, Odwalla, Dasani water and other prizes. Come visit our friends at the Today is so Yesterday Lounge Presented by Intel. Experience activities that blend music and electronics like never before: Scratch your own music mix after a lesson from the Scratch Academy; interact with sound waves in a new spin on computerized reality; or just chill in our lounge and refresh with energy drinks and snacks. Outside Lands Ocean Beach Clean Up with SF Surfrider and Save The Waves

Outside Lands, SF Surfrider and Save The Waves team up to go for the largest, most rockin’ San Francisco beach cleanup ever!

Please join us Saturday, August 29th and Sunday, August 30th from 10am-12pm at stairwell 17 to clean Ocean Beach!  It’s along the Great Highway between Fulton and Lincoln in San Francisco in front of the Beach Chalet.

Musicians, artists, surfers, environmentalists, and ocean lovers are invited to join us across from Golden Gate Park to clean up trash on Ocean Beach and celebrate the Outside Lands Festival's mission of a cleaner, greener existence. Ocean Beach is one of the favorite spots for Bay Area surfers and beach goers alike. Due to its proximity to Golden Gate Park, Ocean Beach will likely feel the impact of concert-goers throughout the festival weekend. It is up to us to minimize this impact, and spare the beach and the ocean of the waste that would otherwise remain forever.

Bring yourself, a friend and your own water bottle (water will be provided, but not bottles) and help us make Ocean Beach safe, clean and green throughout Outside Lands weekend. All other supplies will be provided.  Thanks for helping out!

TENACIOUS D TAKES MAIDEN VOYAGE TO GOLDEN GATE PARK TO SAVE THE DAY

The self-proclaimed “Greatest Band in the World,” featuring Jack Black and Kyle Gass, is joining the world’s greatest lineup of artists for the 2nd annual Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival, taking place August 28 - 30 in historic Golden Gate Park.  The closing act on Sunday night, Tenacious D will share the day’s bill with remarkable artists such as MIA, Ween, Modest Mouse and Band of Horses amongst others.  This will mark the legendary band’s first appearance in the Bay Area in three years and their United States Festival debut.  The D promises to “unleash an earthquake of rock on the Bay Area!” Tenacious D’s unforgettable performances, groundbreaking videos and sheer charisma, energy and general all around rawkness will make this one of Outside Land's most memorable performances.

Single Day General Admission tickets are now available at The Independent box office in San Francisco. Tickets are $95 and cash only. The Independent is located at 526 Divisadero in the NOPA district. The Independent box office is open Monday though Friday from 11AM until 6PM and on all show nights.

THE BARBARY HOSTED BY VAU DE VIRE SOCIETY

In celebration of San Francisco's infamous historical Barbary Coast district, we will be offering up a bit of debauchery by introducing "The Barbary". Hosted by San Francisco's theatrical-circus/variety group Vau de Vire Society, The Barbary will be showcasing the finest local home-grown rock'n'roll, orchestral cabaret, circus, variety and comedy acts throughout the 3-day festival weekend. The stellar line-up includes: The Yard Dogs Road Show, The Madd Vibe Orchestra, Reggie Watts, Eric McFadden Trio, Loop! Station, Brent Weinbach, Rosin Coven and much more! The setting is one for the history books as we have imported the world famous Victoria Spiegeltent from Belgium to house the antics and entertainment. WINES OF THE BAY AREA

At no other festival can one experience the best music while eating world-class food and drinking some of the finest and most interesting wines available today. Building on the success of last year's Wines of the Bay Area tent, this year we will present an incredible mix of 25 local winemakers who will be on hand to talk about their wines. Attendees will be able to try 75 different wines, served in stemless, recyclable Wines of the Bay Area glasses. Along with the vintners being on hand, there will be winemaker barrel tasting seminars that will offer a one of a kind perspective on the winemaking process. This will take place in large, upright barrel booths for patrons to sit in during the tasting tutorials. Here's a sampling of of the wineries on tap: Bonny Doon, Au Bon Climat, Qupe, Edmunds St John, Long Meadow Ranch, Dry Creek, Bedrock Wine Company, Three Thieves, Wind Gap, Big Basin, Palmina and more!

A TASTE OF THE BAY AREA

With A Taste of the Bay Area, we offer the fans the opportunity to savor the greatest culinary delights of San Francisco’s famously elite and adventurous cuisine. The festival will showcase locally grown produce from Pacific Coast Farmers Market Association, exceptionally delicious meats prepared with conscience from Fatted Calf, sustainably raised Hog Island Oysters pluck fresh daily from Tomales Bay. Local restaurants will also be on hand to serve their unique cuisine to patrons – burritos from Gordo’s Taqueria, hamburgers from Burgermeister or Taylor’s Refresher, spicy curry from Dosa, American cuisine from Mavericks, a skewer from Asqew Grill, vegan and vegetarian food from Alive.

The folks at f.y.e. are moving their digs into Golden Gate Park for the weekend. They'll be selling CDs,DVDs, and VINYL from all of your favorite bands. Right next door we've set aside some space for artist CD signings taking place throughout the weekend. Be sure to pay them a visit and pick up music from whomever you want to meet at the f.y.e. tent!
